Making Indian visit visa more traveller-friendly
December 23, 2014 00:00:00
Every year thousands of Bangladeshi nationals visit India for medical treatment, business, study and tourism. But unfortunately the process of getting an Indian visa is lengthy, time consuming and full of hassles. Many people who are willing to visit India often, cannot do so because of the difficulty in obtaining an Indian visa.
Bangladesh has best of relations with India and I think both countries can introduce visa on arrival for travellers of both countries which will save time and increase interactions between the two peoples. At times I wonder why in this age of computer and internet a Bangladeshi seeking Indian visa has to face so many hurdles and waste so much of time.
The Indian High Commission should open more visa centres in divisional towns of Bangladesh to reduce the pressure on Dhaka. The situation has reached a stage when getting an e-token from the website has become an arduous affair. I sincerely feel that it should be made easier. Keeping the increasing number of people visiting India everyday in mind, the visa issuing system should be made easier and traveller friendly. In that case, the number will go up further and relations between the two countries will be further cemented.
