The #MeToo movement has encouraged victims of sexual harassment to be vocal against sexual harassment and given people a sense of the magnitude of the problem. Many victims are crying in private and carrying heavy burdens on their hearts and minds. Often the predator is a relative or a close family friend and causes the victim immense pain and trauma.
Sexual harassment is rampant in our country. We see that many victims do not lodge complaints against the sexual offenders as they know they would be ostracised by people of the community if they do so.
The number of sexual harassment is quite high compared to the official numbers. The #MeToo movement will create social pressure on sexual predators and save the lives of many potential victims.
It is high time we became vocal against sexual harassment as keeping silence only encourages more crimes in society.
