Naming Padma bridge as Swadhinata Shetu

During our liberation war of 1971, many people just could not believe that we would be able to defeat the then Pakistani army, one of the well-trained militaries in the world that time. We made the impossible, possible. The same has happened recently. A number of people predicted that the Covid-19 pandemic would wreak havoc with Bangladesh. But the reality is that we have tackled the virus in one of the most successful ways.

When the World Bank cancelled its loan for the Padma bridge project and Bangladesh decided to go ahead on its own, many experts stated that it was impossible. But our determination has turned the bridge into a reality. Many times, we, as a nation, emerged from the ruins and handled so many obstacles with an iron hand. Building Padma bridge at our own cost is no less than winning a war. Therefore, my suggestion is to name it after our glorious liberation war. We urge the authorities concerned to consider naming Padma bridge as Swadhinata Shetu or Freedom Bridge.
