Narrating an incident

July 22, 2014 00:00:00

On Sunday evening I went for shopping at the Nurjahan Bhabon opposite Dhaka College. The building, a big one, houses a number of show rooms of renowned drapers and manufacturers of textile products on its first and second floors. I was in one such shop and the same organisation has outlets in other floors of the same building. As I was watching and choosing my merchandise, suddenly I noticed a kind of uneasiness and alertness among the employees there. On query the salesperson attending me informed that at the downstairs showroom of their company, three persons were walking away with three expensive sarees without making the payment. As the salesperson pressed them for making payment, the so-called buyers, identifying themselves as students of a college, hit the salesperson. At this stage, the person attending me went to the corner of the store and told some youths present there to rush downstairs and meet the people who are creating trouble. The physically rough and tough youths, who were possibly relaxing there, in a warring mood rushed downstairs in no time. This made me astonished and further curious. Pointing at the youths, I again asked the same person who they were, and the reply came, "Every year during Eid our company hires 10/15 youths who are college and university students to meet such kind of untoward incidents."

Without any prejudice and observation I want to share the incident with the readers of the Financial Express.
