Two important and crowded areas within the Dhaka city - Banasree and Aftabnagar - are divided by a channel. People living there have to go to the other side to buy essentials from the kitchen market, send children to schools, colleges and madrasahs, doofficial jobs and banking transactions. And thousands of people commute between the two areas via a distant road or a bamboo-made bridge.
It's really surprising that there is little concern about the risks people take every day while crossing the bridge. Such crossings also increase crowd on Rampura-Badda road. Only a steel-made or concrete bridge can change the entire situation and reduce some pressure on other roads as people in need of visiting either Banasree or Aftabnagar can then directly go to closer destinations without creating congestion elsewhere. In fact, this is one of many examples of how Dhaka city's traffic congestion could be addressed. A smart management in each area can reduce pressure of traffic.
