Need for a political solution

It is indeed baffling that the ruling party is ready to go to any length to quell the present political unrest by force, but is not prepared to hold a dialogue with the opposition and bring back peace and normalcy in the country. The media have already been advised not to publish any news that may incite violence. But unfortunately in today's world, the media will not be able to hide or gag all news about the ongoing political violence in the country. When the government blocked mobile messaging applications like whatsapp, viber and Tango, the users are downloading additional applications which help them bypass the government instructions.
It is not possible for anyone to stop the flow of information. Rather if the media are free, chances of rumours spreading around are minimal. The ruling party does not allow the opposition to hold a meeting in  Dhaka and in such a situation, it cannot evade its responsibility for the current political turmoil.
The common people want peace and tranquillity in  society. They want to see the politicians solving their problems across the table and not on the streets. The ruling party must give adequate space for the opposition so that they can express their view. The need for an inclusive election for democracy and rule of law to function can hardly be overemphasized.
