Need for booster vaccine
July 04, 2022 00:00:00
The recent increase in the Covid-19 positivity rate and death shows that the virus is still here. It is true that over the last couple of months, the authorities concerned have become a bit relaxed towards the issue; and so have we. It seems that the complete withdrawal of Covid-related restrictions has had a negative impact on our fight against the virus. There are still a large number of people who have not got them vaccinated.
As Bangladesh's Covid graph is inching upwards every day, not enough people are getting their booster shots. Among the reasons for the apparent reluctance are the fears of its adverse effects, the view that Covid is now a mild infection and doubts over whether a precaution dose is indeed useful. If we cannot make our people aware of these issues, we will not be able to vaccinate the targeted people and the risks of the pandemic will not go away soon.
