Need for repairing broken roads to reduce traffic jam

The Finance Minster recently said that poor traffic management and not poor road conditions causes traffic gridlock in Dhaka. I don't quite agree with his observation, as many of our roads are broken and full of holes, which hamper smooth movement of traffic and create traffic congestion. Traffic jam at a point has a chain effect that quickly spreads to surrounding areas. Condition of some of our roads is incredibly bad. Examples of Rampura-Mouchak road can be cited in this context.
There is perpetual congestion there as the as the road is half broken and the vehicles can not ply normally and have to move at a  slower pace.  I believe the traffic police of our city are working hard but they do not receive adequate logistic support. Due to broken roads life of our vehicles is being reduced and every day. We spend valuable foreign exchange to import vehicles and a lot money is spent after spare parts. The concerned authority should repair all roads in due time and then I am sure, problem of traffic congestion shall disappear for ever.
