New air-conditioned taxi: A welcome change
April 24, 2014 00:00:00
As a commuter I am glad to see new service of air-conditioned taxis has been launched in Dhaka. It will bring a little comfort to the life of the city-dwellers which they were desperately waiting for. I hope more such initiatives will be taken so that we can bring some comfort and ease for the commuters. I thank the prime minister for suggesting the fare for the first two kilometres be fixed at Tk 85.00, instead of the Tk 100 decided earlier. The main issue is that the new taxis must run on meter.
We have bitter experiences about the CNG-run three-wheelers that they do not go on the meter and always demand double or triple fare than the actual fare creating a lot of hassles for the passengers. I hope, with the new air-conditioned taxis, it will not be so. Day by day our city is showing changes as the authorities are trying to improve the lives of the city-dwellers. As citizens we must remember that without our active participation no government can bring any positive change.
