No Aram (comfort) in Arambagh

Arambagh, one of the most important bus stations in Dhaka, is located in Motijheel near the city centre. It serves as a key hub for long-distance buses travelling to various parts of Bangladesh, including Cumilla, Noakhali, Chattogram, Cox's Bazar, and Bandarban. As a result, the area witnesses a continuous influx of buses, leading to severe traffic congestion.
The surrounding roads remain busy throughout the day, particularly during business hours and school or college opening and closing times. Traffic congestion is further exacerbated by private vehicles, rickshaws, CNG-powered auto-rickshaws, and both long-distance and regular public buses. This persistent gridlock causes significant inconvenience to commuters, students, and office workers, often disrupting their daily schedules.
To address this problem, dedicated bus stations and terminals must be developed to prevent buses from parking haphazardly on the roads. Strengthening traffic management through strict enforcement of regulations and continuous monitoring is essential. Additionally, designated parking areas should be established, and measures should be taken to control the movement of long-distance buses, especially during peak hours.
It is hoped that the authorities concerned will spare some thoughts and do what is needed to restore a sense of order and relief in Arambagh.
