THE importance of primary education often referred to as elementary education, in laying the foundation of a strong nation can not be overemphasized. Primary education is the basic and foremost right of every child. As a first step in the creation of welfare and just society, universal primary education is an absolute pre-requisite for sustainable development.
Every single child that means girls as well as boys should be able to complete full course of primary education. In order to compete with the surrounding world, children are prepared from very early childhood as early as four or five years.
But we were saddened with reports in the media that there is currently no headmaster in 352 primary schools of the country and each of these schools are being managed by a single teacher. The news is shocking as well as alarming. It can not be true that the concerned authorities of Education Ministry are unaware of it, but for reasons best known to them posting of headmasters to these schools is being delayed. The Education Minister is requested to take effective steps in this regard.
