No more child labour

Whenever I go to repair my motorcycle, I see two children of hardly 12 years of age, working in adverse conditions where it is difficult even for the adults to work. Of course, these children help their families. However, child labour is a sensitive issue from humanitarian and legal perspective. We need to make sure every child in Bangladesh completes high school education. The government, in collaboration with organisations such as UNICEF, is addressing this issue and unfortunately, most of the child workers are engaged in informal sectors. Once poverty comes down to zero, children should not be required to work for sustenance. It is sad to see that these children are being deprived of a healthy and joyous childhood when they should play and stay with family or at school. Child labour is a global problem, a problem of poverty. So, it's important to address the issue so that the children and their families do not suffer.
