A Hannan's write-up published in the Financial Express on October 18th comes as a refreshing breeze amidst the storm of misdeeds and criminal activities that floods the media in Bangladesh. This write-up was the only diamond of hope that seems to have forsaken our motherland. Such persons are rare who surely will be duly rewarded here and in the timeless 'hereafter'. The country should and must recognize such a person who has all the gifts of an upright and excellent man.
His is a unique example of someone succeeding in business, operating with dedication, ethics and morality which are usually abandoned by most businesspersons. The authorities in Bangladesh must recognize this pioneer of honesty and fair dealings. Hopefully this will set an example of the famous precept that "honesty is the best policy".
In stark contrast, by and large our society is dominated mostly by the 'unruly opportunists' practising all unethical and immoral ways and means to have a rosy and rich bottom-line, stashing away their illegal wealth. That unfortunately is the 'modus-operandi' for many of our social bigwigs. There are few exceptions like Engr M A Awal, a paragon of humanity. As a fellow engineer he had suffered for refusing to provide money to the late founder of today's opposition party-- a so-called 'very honest man' that is now slowly being exposed. It will be my luck, if I could meet this fellow professional and a man of principles which I had followed throughout my 50-year professional career.
Engr S A Mansoor

Noble man indeed
