LONDON, July 26 (AFP): US presidential hopeful Barack Obama Saturday met Tony Blair, the international Middle East peace envoy and former British prime minister, opening the final day of his foreign tour.

The Democratic nominee met Blair for breakfast at his London hotel, and chatted with his guest about their children before sending photographers out of the room. Obama's campaign earlier said he wanted to talk to Blair about Middle East peace efforts after his visits to Jordan, Israel and the West Bank earlier this week.

The Illinois senator's staff said he was also keen to hear Blair's views on climate change, an issue on which he has worked since leaving office last year.

Obama went from his talks with Blair to meet his successor in Downing Street, Gordon Brown, and was later due to meet opposition Conservative Party leader David Cameron, before leaving for Chicago.
