We continue to hear from different sources about an 'ombudsman' in our society. This is also provided in our constitution but nothing has happened so far although four decades have passed since our independence. Anna Hazare gave the government of India a jolt with a 'Lokepal' bill which is in line with an 'ombudsman' kind of provision, aimed particularly at combating corruption. Arabindo Kejriwal, a great follower of Anna Hazare, has come to limelight only recently when his AAP swept the Delhi elections and he became the chief minister.
Kejriwal did not hesitate to declare his crusade against corruption. Delhi people trusted him and elected him and his party to power for the second time. In Bangladesh, the TIB continues to publish its reports on corruption and sadly, we find our country at the top of the list of most corrupt countries of the world. Many of our top politicians often refer to the teachings from holy Quran regarding all good things of life but they do not practise the same in their personal, social and political life. This precisely means, they do not practise what they preach. We really need persons likes Anna Hazare and Arabinda Kejriwal to drive out corruption and malpractices and make our society clean.
