Overhauling BCB
October 31, 2023 00:00:00
Bangladesh cricket team's comprehensive loss against Netherlands has made it apparent that the entire structure of the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) needs to be overhauled. The BCB chairman should be apolitical whose appointment and retaining that position should be strictly based on performance. The governing body must be changed on time and the same faces should not return.
The BCB must also exercise control over players who are offered handsome contracts and urge them to not overexert themselves in foreign county/league contracts. Unfortunately, the glamour of cricket, foreign tours and the financial budget of BCB has become a liability instead of an asset to improve the game. If we cannot manage our cricketers' discipline, it is us who will be beaten one after another even by weaker opponents.
