OVERUSE of earphones is now common particularly among the youths - both urban and rural. They are found deeply engrossed in listening to music on their cell phones days in and days out exposing them to the dangers of hearing-related problems. Many of the young people who use headphones are already complaining of headaches within a short time of having a cell phone. Often we see people with cordless earphones in their ears. This is called Bluetooth technology, which is harmful for us.
However, if we keep the volume of earphones reasonably low, we can avoid long-term risks of hearing-related damages. But in reality, we see that the people, notably the young ones, listening to music keeping the volume high. Many people are also seen listening to music with earphones plugged in to their ears as they walk on the roads or cross over to other side of the road. It is very risky to do so as accidents may happen any time. Technology is meant for wellbeing of human beings, but we should use it to our advantage and avoid its negative impacts on our life.
