Padma Bridge needs automated toll collection system

An automated toll collection system is the need of the hour for the recently inaugurated Padma Bridge. For want of such a system and lack of adequate toll collection booths, people are experiencing long tailbacks on both the sides of the bridge.

According to the Bangladesh Bridge Authority (BBA), it would take around six months to launch the automated system for this mega-structure. Until then, tolls will be collected manually. If this is so, the Padma Bridge authorities should increase the number of toll booths so that people can cross the bridge quickly. Otherwise, the real purpose of this bridge will not be fulfilled.
