The Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC) has just issued its holding-tax bill books for the year 2014-15. The bill book shows that the holding tax is payable at only Janata Bank, Uttara Corporate Branch, Uttara Sector-4.
We are puzzled as to how we will follow such a directive when several dozen banks both in public and private sectors are in operation with modern facilities like online banking and so on. The DNCC or Bangladesh Bank should look into the matter. Everybody is aware of the household owners' hardship in respect of payment of city corporation taxes to a certain type of banks. The finance ministry has also a role to play here.
