The two perpetrators of gang rape of a Garo girl have been arrested by the Rapid Action Battalion (RAB). This shows the promptness and agility of the law enforcers. Rape cases in our country often go unnoticed and unaddressed as the victims prefer to remain silent so that they and their family do not have to face further social harassment.
But this time this brave Garo girl decided to come out of her shell and wanted the criminals to be tried and punished. The victim will get some solace when the criminals will be punished by the court of law. She feels that she is not alone and the whole country is behind her. This will definitely make prospective criminals think twice before they make a similar attempt.
On the other hand, the victims will have the courage to speak about the incident in public which will make things easier for the law enforcing agencies and eventually the court of law. According to the victim, five men were involved in this gang rape and I hope soon the other three will be apprehended and taken into custody. Criminals who violate the chastity of women should be shown no mercy and awarded exemplary punishment to prevent recurrence of similar incidents in future.
