The lower half of the front page of a local English daily on 3rd January was about violence and physical conflicts related to politics of Bangladesh. It depicted a partial picture of the politicians and their gangs of 'activists' who are nothing but trouble-makers, out to loot, rob and destroy.
Hence all the desperate words, hartals and violence are meant to secure the Godi (power). This is the real 'name of the game'. The rest is all eye-wash, only to satisfy our gullible public and get voters into their fold.
This is the core objective of the major political parties in Bangladesh. In effect, it sums up the game plan of our major political parties. Pronouncements like, honesty and principles etc. are all a mesh of opportunities in the game plan. In other words, it is like making hay while the sun shines. After all, in reality, all said and done, the 'return on investment' in politics is possibly higher than the highest that can be earned in a 'business or a 'commercial' activity.
An unfortunate Bangladeshi
Politics and violence
