It is good to know from the speech of Saima Wazed, the daughter of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, that Bangladesh government will prepare a list of autistic children and physically challenged people to ensure their proper rehabilitation. It will make easier for the government if they can make a list of autistic children. Thanks Saima Wazed for her relentless work towards betterment of the life of autistic children. This important issue is getting due coverage and the common people are getting some idea about the state of autism.
Autism is a mental condition, present from early childhood, characterised by great difficulty in communicating and forming relationships with other people and in using language and abstract concepts. In the past autistic children used to face great hardship in our society, but now gradually the scene is taking a positive turn. The number of autistic schools in the country is very small. Moreover, they are very expensive due to the nature of teaching -- one teacher needs to be engaged with one student. So if the government comes forward then the burden of the parents will be lighter. More schools for autistic children need to be established. I hope in the coming days the parents of autistic children will not face despair and they will get help to raise their special children.
