Pre-paid gas meter

It appears that Titas Gas is contemplating to install pre-paid gas meters in some areas of Dhaka. It had earlier installed gas meters in many households in the city. But the quality of the meters was too poor and they are not working. The consumers have to pay their bills on a flat rate.

We are aware about the corruption of meter readers, be it WASA or electricity. My WASA meter was not giving correct readings and I changed the meter through Segunbagicha WASA meter division paying an exorbitant price. But due to some tricks the new meter ceased functioning within a few days. WASA officials again approached me proposing to set the meter right in exchange of some money though they had fixed a new meter earlier. I could learn that the meter casing was new but the measuring device was changed surreptitiously. As a consumer I am scared about the proposal of introducing pre-paid Titas Gas meters as we know about the plunders of meter readers of WASA and electricity.
