Preventing stroke among young people

December 05, 2021 00:00:00

There has been an alarming rise in the number of working-age men and women suffering strokes. According to the American Stroke Association, 10 per cent of all stroke patients in the USA are now under 45 years of age. The global situation is similar. People of this age who suffer a stroke are referred to as 'stroke in young'. This age is the most productive one in a family and society. But due to premature stroke, many of these young patients are paralysed and living in a helpless condition, while others are dying prematurely. Relatively young people are also becoming victims of strokes and heart diseases in Bangladesh.

The main cause of stroke at a young age is various types of heart disease. In addition, such strokes can be caused by congenital blood vessels in the brain, obesity, high blood cholesterol levels, uncontrolled diabetes and high blood pressure. Stroke has also been linked to a variety of drug addictions. Women taking long-term birth control pills are also at risk.

Moderate diet, regular exercise and tension-free lifestyle are some of the ways to prevent this disease. Say no to any kind of intoxication including smoking. If there is any congenital perforation or valve problem in the heart, and if you feel pain in chest, seek treatment immediately.
