Protect children from corporal punishment

My husband and I believe we were truly blessed by Allah when our two children came into our lives. We had been trying unsuccessfully to have children for several years and were about to adopt a child when our doctor shared the good news.
The love we feel for our two boys cannot be adequately expressed in words. To say they are our everything would be an understatement. We fail to comprehend how anyone could harm their child or permit others, such as teachers or imams, to do so.
Considering that there is absolutely no benefit to be gained from actual abuse, we are puzzled by why anyone claiming to love their children would engage in such behaviour. The very thought of subjecting our children to corporal punishment has never crossed our minds. It is a shameful, shocking and sinful act. The reprehensible attitude that some teachers and imams have toward children must be replaced with common sense and compassion.
So, it is expected that the new Education Minister, Barrister Mohibul Hasan Chowdhury Nowfel, will take steps to enact an anti-corporal punishment act, providing greater protection for children.
