Public should not suffer due to political activities

Targeting the 12th parliamentary elections, both the ruling party and the opposition have been holding political programmes in Dhaka city and elsewhere in the country every day. But these programmes are not always peaceful. Incidents of arson, vandalism and violence are being reported. People are worried over their security and normal life. When the political parties hold rallies, the traffic situation in different cities worsens. The city dwellers get stuck due to hours-long traffic jam. In a democratic society, any political party or organisation can hold public meetings and rallies. However, they must keep in mind that normal life should not be disrupted due to these programmes.
Bangladesh is a developing country. We all should remember that any conflict between political parties and violence cannot bring any good to anyone. It can only cause more public suffering. We should not waste our country's resources through creating any anarchic situation. It is high time for the political parties to think about public sufferings caused by their political programmes. The purpose of politics should be the welfare of the people. Political parties should do politics for the people. However, their programmes often cause trouble to common people and it should come to an end. They should think about common people's suffering and organise their programmes in a way that will not disrupt our normal life.
