A good student does not mean only that s/he is sincere in his/her studies and  studies books regularly. But the title 'good student' itself connotes more than this.
If the epithet 'good' is taken into consideration, then it will be seen that this term refers to acquisition of all kinds of moral qualities along with regular studies. But it is a matter of great sorrow that through use of the term 'good student', most people only mean that a student is very regular in attending classes and goes through books regularly. But most of them do not like to inquire whether he could acquire the noble quality i.e., wisdom and morality.
There was a day when good students had played a vital role in the process of nation-building. But its essence is not found anymore in the present day. Nowadays, the illiterate and dishonest people are becoming quickly the holders of huge wealth through unfair means. They are getting patronage of the politically dominant class of society.
On the other hand, the so-called good students are found busy most of the time in manipulating good results, getting lucrative jobs and keeping themselves busy with activities that fetch them more and more money. In other words, their hard labour is only for fulfilling their long-cherished desire of becoming members of the elite class. But they do not pay any heed to the surrounding circumstances and to the conditions of the poor and helpless people living nearby. Altruism is absent among most of them, which is really painful.
It is now time for the really good students to inculcate moral values while continuing their academic studies. Studying the holy Quran, Hadith and classics regularly will help develop the habit of thinking positively.
However, knowledge and wisdom are complementary to each other. Without the presence of one, another becomes meaningless. If anyone can ensure a happy combination of the both in him/her, it will be amply rewarding.
