Rain and suffering of city dwellers

The non-stop rain during the past weeks created additional sufferings for the Dhaka city dwellers and water-logged, broken and muddy roads have become nightmares for the regular commuters. Poorly repaired roads are getting back its previous dilapidated state. I really dread going out nowadays as I know about the sufferings waiting for me outside. Traffic is more unbearable as many roads are only half usable and the other half is filled with various small and big potholes.
Relentless road cutting is being carried on by WASA for laying pipes. Many roads of Dhaka city now resemble the moon's surface full of various large and small holes. We have now two new city mayors and our expectations were high from them as both of them came to their present positions with promises to make the city liveable. I am sure both of them will do their best to fulfil their promises and live up to the expectations of the city dwellers.  We cannot deny that Dhaka has turned out to be one of the most unplanned cities in the world and we have to take a fresh look to work out a sustainable long-term plan to make this city liveable in all respects for our future generation. We are losing much of our working time in traffic congestion which is leaving a negative impact on our economy also. We should therefore waste no further time to make our city liveable as promised by the mayors and present the citizens a fulfilling and pleasant life.
