Raising awareness of uterine cancer

December 25, 2021 00:00:00

The uterus, or womb, is the place where a baby grows when a woman is pregnant. And the cancer that is caused in its mouth is the cancer of the cervix. When this uncontrolled cell division occurs, a lump or wheel is formed in the body. It can be benign. It can also be malignant. Benign is usually harmless, but malignant is harmful. If the lump forms in the cells of the cervix, it is called cervical cancer. Uncontrolled menstruation is one of the symptoms of cervical cancer. In Bangladesh, around 12,000 new patients of cervical cancer are diagnosed every year, and about 6,000 of them die. That is, about half of the identified patients die of this cancer.

However, this cancer can be cured completely if one takes proper treatment on time. This is the only cancer that can be prevented through vaccination. Some other measures we can take to prevent such cancer include marrying off girls after 18, and avoiding birth control pills, smoking, or sexually transmitted diseases. There are many cancer patients, who are indifferent to undergoing treatment. Raising awareness among them is also important.
