Entrepreneurship in agriculture has not received its due recognition in Bangladesh. But, the farm sector has accommodated many entrepreneurs these days or in other words, the entrepreneurs have left their footprints on the once-neglected sector.
Small and micro enterprises set up in rural areas are creative alternative sources of income. Farmers are the most risk-taking entrepreneurs. In recent years, agribusinesses are also flourishing. They include food processing,, packaging, preservation of seasonal fruits and vegetables, seed processing and flower growing. They add value and also create good employment opportunities.
We've seen, during the ongoing pandemic, agro-entrepreneurs have continued their activities taking creative initiatives to ensure marketing chains for food supply. The government can further help the youths to emerge as agro-entrepreneurs.
