Regular salary for FBL employees

December 25, 2017 00:00:00

IT is reported that employees of Farmers Bank Limited (FBL) cannot be paid salary for the month of December due to cash crunch. The bank has been facing tremendous cash crisis because of its directors' involvement in shady deals in loans and advances. They interfered in the affairs of the bank and mindlessly disbursed loans and advances to organisations that existed on paper only and obviously had no capability to repay loans. Names of the directors are well known and they are enemies of the people who must be brought to book immediately.

The Bangladesh Bank cannot shrug off its responsibility for the crisis and should play its due role. Most of the employees are in no way responsible for the problem but they are being made a hostage to the crisis. The Finance Minister recently said that the sponsor-directors looted the FBL. If none other than the Finance Minister felt so, the government should nab the culprits and bring them to justice.
