Remembering mayor Annisul Huq

The nation on November 30 remembered Mayor Annisul Huq on his first death anniversary. The sudden death of the prolific personality had created a vacuum in the society last year due to a number of reasons.

Huq was a celebrity when there was only one channel in Bangladesh around the late 1970s and early 1980s. Everyone loved his presentation on numerous programmes in Bangladesh Television. He could charm his audience. Later, he became a successful businessman in the readymade garment sector. But he passionately devoted his time to do good for others.

Most people were very happy to see a person of his stature taking over an important post like that of the mayor of Dhaka North City Corporation only years back. His short tenure as a Mayor saw significant developments in the DNCC zone. Citizens were content with the work that was done by the DNCC under his leadership.

But then he fell ill and left the mortal realm on November 30, 2017. Huq's great work needs to be continued by his successor. His life inspires many as they remember him for his dedication and sincerity towards this city. May his soul rest in eternal peace!
