Removing Dhaka's gridlocks
March 20, 2022 00:00:00
Life in Dhaka is not easy. When it comes to living in the capital city, patience is truly a necessity. This city can get you stuck hour after hour on the road due to seemingly never-ending traffic signals. And it can happen regularly. Every day, we are becoming less productive due to the time we spend on the road, not to mention the money wasted on fuel. People lose all their enthusiasm and energy in traffic congestions. It looks like Dhaka city commuters have to spend half of their day in traffic jams and the next half in exhaustion. At the end of classes or offices at 5:00pm, people reach their home in the evening.
Sometimes, people literally have to spend all day in traffic congestions. Just a few days ago, it took at least 3 to 3.5 hours to reach a place. Many parents of school students were seen getting out of their cars and taking rickshaws to bring their children back from schools. Several city dwellers, on their Facebook accounts, posted about how they had been stuck at the same place for hours.
Dhaka's road management system for long has been in a shambles. However, there seems to have no solutions to this. The authorities concerned should seriously address this issue before it goes out of everybody's hand, and take immediate action to reduce the capital's traffic gridlocks.
