Removing obstacles that hamper progress of business

February 14, 2019 00:00:00

In recent times, business leaders as well as ministers have asked young entrepreneurs to invest and start their own businesses. This is surely a great idea as such start-ups are becoming very successful in neighbouring India, in the USA, European countries and elsewhere. Young people of the country should be encouraged to start their own businesses. However, some young entrepreneurs are frustrated with the difficulties they face while carrying out the different functions of their businesses almost every week.

The government should take steps to remove problems like bureaucratic red tape, corruption, unethical practices etc. in the offices and departments where business-owners and stakeholders usually frequent for different work.

High bank interest rates are also not helping the cause. Additionally, when a company wants to hire a foreign talent they face a lot of problems in the name of security clearance. It should be remembered that when a company hires a foreign employee, the experience and technical knowhow that the foreign professional brings with him or her helps the local professionals. The latter group gains valuable skills and expertise by working with their foreign colleagues.

The growth of business sector is very important for a country's economy, especially for one like Bangladesh. If Bangladesh can become more business-friendly, then economic growth at a faster pace can be anticipated. The right approach is necessary now.
