Shishu Park in Dhaka city's Shahbagh area used to be a prominent centre of recreation for families in the past. In my childhood, Eid festival seemed to be quite incomplete if we could not visit this place. The park has remained closed since January 2019, as the authorities are working to modernise it. But many of us do not know when it will reopen again and what features it will offer the children.
Dhaka has very limited space for children, and Shishu Park is one of them. If it remains closed for years, where will the children go for recreation? We urge the authorities concerned to look into the issue and let us know when the park will open for children again.
