Repair and renovation of footpaths

WORKS for repair and renovation of footpaths are a continuous process undertaken and implemented throughout the year. All such activities are intended to reduce the sufferings of the pedestrians. The ground reality in Dhaka city speaks otherwise. We see roads are being dug for indefinite periods of time and progress of works in most places is painfully slow.

Apart from creating unending woes for the pedestrians, slow progress of work leads to escalation of costs. Furthermore, due to unplanned road digging and procrastination of works, there are perpetual and nagging traffic gridlocks on the roads. Situation is further jeopardised and pedestrians are in deeper woes when both sides of the footpaths are demolished for renovation. Again repairing period is unusually prolonged when the same road is dug for several times. We appeal to the concerned authorities to speed up the renovation and construction works of footpaths and work out action plans so that repetition of the same job can be avoided.
