Repair Jatrabari road urgently
January 27, 2025 00:00:00
The road from Jatrabari to the Dholai Khal bus stand, a crucial junction in the capital, is in dire straits. Jatrabari serves as an important gateway to Dhaka, connecting the city to major routes such as the Dhaka-Chattogram Highway, Narayanganj, and Cumilla. This road plays a vital role in transportation of goods and passengers, accommodating a significant volume of traffic daily.
Unfortunately, this vital road is now in a deplorable state, causing immense suffering for commuters. Numerous small and large potholes have formed along the stretch, making the road nearly unusable. This has led to an alarming rise in accidents, with schoolchildren, elderly individuals, and pregnant women being particularly vulnerable. The primary cause of these accidents is the damaged condition of the road, which prevents drivers from maintaining balance and control.
The situation has also contributed to worsening traffic congestion, adding to the frustration of residents in the densely populated Jatrabari area. Immediate action is necessary to address these issues and prevent further harm.
I urge the relevant authorities to prioritise the renovation of this road from Jatrabari intersection to the Dholai Khal bus stand. Ensuring safe and smooth travel on this crucial route is essential for the well-being of the public and smooth functioning of the city's transport system.
