Repairing roads before Eid

April 21, 2022 00:00:00

Damaged roads and highways have become part of our life. Repair work is ongoing for a number of roads, slowing down vehicular movement further. The number of people leaving Dhaka city during the upcoming Eid would be double the number of Eid-holidaymakers in the previous two years as Covid restrictions have been eased by the government, says a research conducted by the Accident Research Institute of Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology. This will definitely put extra pressure on our already dilapidated roads.

The Eid-ul-Fitr is set to be celebrated within a few weeks. If the roads are not repaired in time, the homebound people will have to suffer a lot. During every Eid, home-goers' sufferings know no bounds as they have to struggle to collect bus/train/launch tickets, even after paying extra charges over the actual fares. And the miserable conditions of roads turn their journey into nightmares. We hope the authorities concerned will take necessary measures so that the homebound people's suffering is lessen to some extent. And for this they must repair all the damaged roads before Eid.
