Resolving political crisis through dialogue

February 17, 2015 00:00:00

It is indeed frustrating that frequent calls from various national and international quarters have so far failed to produce a positive result. The issue of dialogue among political parties to resolve the ongoing political crisis is moving further and further away to utter frustration of the silent majority, i.e., the common people who are already paying for it dearly. The economy is fast moving down the dungeon of despair and darkness. In short, the country has been elbowed to the path of death and destruction by the political parties driven by their own selfish interests.

The latest move by the United Nations has brought a glimmer of hope for us. I am sure the UN initiative will pull all the parties together to work out an amicable settlement of the ongoing crisis. However, it remains to be seen how far the UN efforts are going to be effective to end the crisis. Everybody concerned must realise that the economy is bleeding profusely and may soon collapse, if the crisis is not resolved immediately through a dialogue. It may sound harsh but it is true that the government has so far failed to protect the lives of the people and ensure peace and harmony in the country. An unprecedented politics of violence has plundered our good sense and human values.
