Rest in peace, Philip Hughes

November 30, 2014 00:00:00

The Australian cricketer Philip Hughes' death left us in a state of shock and sadness. Everyone I know was talking about this tragic death, be it in real life or in the social networks. Philip Hughes played 26 test matches and 25 One-day matches in his brief life. He was hit by a bouncer when he was playing in a domestic game.

Dhaka stadium also experienced a similar incident when an Indian Cricketer Raman Lamba was hit by a fast ball on his temple and he died. He was playing in Dhaka first division cricket league. He was known for his fearless approach and he often would not use helmet which ultimately took away his life.

The death of Philip Hughes has reminded us of Raman Lamba. The words of compassion and sympathy have been pouring in since the death of Philip Hughes. Philip Hughes was expecting a call from the Australian national team but before that could happen an unfortunate accident took him away.

Philip made his debut in international cricket in 2009 against South Africa. I hope, the international cricket council will take adequate safety steps and make the game of cricket safer so that we don't have to witness repetition of such  tragic incidents in future.
