Restructuring the BFF is a must

September 22, 2021 00:00:00

The Bangladesh Football Federation (BFF) has removed another coach. Jamie Day was sacked last week. The BFF office bearers claimed that his performance was disappointing. Thus, Day became the 20th coach of Bangladesh football team in 13 years to face removal or suspension. However, he was the longest serving coach who worked for three years. From selection to removal, a lack of any plan and professionalism is clear.

The BFF has actually set a record on appointing and removing coaches under the leadership of Kazi Salahuddin. The iconic footballer of Bangladesh has failed to improve the quality of the game. It is wrong to think that a successful player in the field will also be a successful organiser. The poor show of the BFF in the last one decade is deplorable. In the FIFA ranking, Bangladesh now stands at 189, only ahead of Pakistan, Bhutan and Sri Lanka in South Asia. There should be through restructuring of the football federation with clear accountability.
