The former chief justice and current chairman of the law commission has opined that retiring age of High Court Judges should be seventy five years. At present we have retiring age at various ages at various levels. Considering our life expectancy and ability to work, the retirement age should be refixed. It has been seen that the judges who retired during the past 2-3 decades remained quite active and in sound health long after their retirement. Considering all these factors the age of retirement of incumbent judges can be refixed.
