Ridding Thakurgaon of road crashes

Road accident is a major cause of death and injuries in Bangladesh. People are losing life every day across the country because of road crashes. Thakurgaon district is not an exception. In fact, road crashes have become an everyday phenomenon in this district, particularly on the roads from Baliadangi intersection to Thakurgaon Bus Stand. One of the main causes of frequent road accidents on this road is that it does not have any speed breakers. Unlicensed and illegal vehicles including easy bikes, tractors, Nasimon-Karimons continue to ply almost all roads of Thakurgaon town. Drivers do not care about traffic rules and regulations and drive their vehicles recklessly.

It is not enough to grieve for the lost lives. Measures must be taken to curb these tragic incidents. We urge the authorities concerned to immediately address and tackle the menace by taking steps like setting up speed breakers, engaging more traffic policeand enforcing traffic laws strictly in Thakurgaon.
