Rising corona cases in Dhaka!
August 26, 2020 00:00:00
After high incidence of coronavirus infection in the capital city of Dhaka, people became alert and maintained social distancing and followed health protocols. As a result, the cases decreased while a few Covid-19 patients were found in rural areas. However, public reluctance to abide by health rules including use of facemasks, hand washing and use of sanitizer, Dhaka has witnessed a rise in cases - by 56 per cent in the past one month.
Some physicians say they are not in a position to know the actual number of Covid-19 patients in Dhaka city, which, they fear, may see massive number of people infected. This is mainly because of higher density of population plus relaxation of the restrictions on reopening of the economy. In some areas, people's movement appears to be reckless.
This is a matter of concern, especially when we have no clear knowledge of the situation and research findings can't answer all issues relating to the novel coronavirus. Alongside making people aware through sustained health awareness campaign, we believe, regulation and enforcement of restrictions are important.
