Mugging incidents these days are on a sharp rise in Dhaka city. It is alarming news for the city dwellers. Many mugging victims do not even lodge complaints with the police as they think it is futile and will only increase their sufferings.
If the law enforcers do not arrest the criminals and return the mugged goods to the victims, the citizens will not feel encouraged to go to the police station. Eid-ul-Azha is approaching fast and just before Eid we always notice a sharp rise in criminal activities like mugging and extortion.
It is not difficult for the law enforcement agencies to detect these crime syndicates and keep those under strict surveillance. The police have the capability to arrest them at the time of a crime's occurrence and even later. With the law enforcers getting active, the criminals will lose their courage and won't be able to commit mugging and other crimes that make the lives of the common people miserable.
Dhaka is now a mega city. The law enforcement people are inadequate in proportion to its inhabitants. Everybody hopes the government will take appropriate measures to ensure security for the city's people.
