The communication minister needs to be congratulated for accepting the hard truth that road accidents have nowadays become a national concern. Every year our country witnesses numerous road accidents and many people are getting killed and grievously injured.
Over the past few years, we saw an alarming rise in road accidents. Rapid and unplanned urbanisation can be termed a major reason for increased road accidents. Bad road condition is also a reason for many road mishaps. Many roads have big potholes and are unfit for plying of vehicles but the commuters have no choice.
The communication ministry has a lot to improve the present situation, which is pathetic, to say the least. The citizens also have an important role to play and they too can ensure safety of their lives. When we see the driver of a bus, which we are riding, driving recklessly, we should reprimand him and ask him to drive safely as our lives are more valuable than our time.
I hope, the communication minister will take required steps to reduce the number of road accidents and make roads safe for passengers.
