KHOST, Afghanistan, May 16 (AFP): Five people died when an Afghan mosque was hit by rockets fired from Pakistan by insurgents targeting a US military camp near the border, police and the US military said Saturday.
The attack happened late Friday on the outskirts of the eastern town of Khost, which was struck by a series of Taliban suicide blasts last week, which together killed 15 Afghans and 12 militants.
"Three rockets were fired, aimed at the coalition forces' base," Khost province police chief Abdul Qayoum Bakizoi told newsmen.
"Two landed in a field and one of them hit a mosque in a nearby village and killed five civilians and wounded six others," he said.
