Rohingya crisis: No solution in sight!
October 11, 2020 00:00:00
About 1.1 million Rohingya people who fled Myanmar's atrocities took refuge in Bangladesh. Despite their traumatic experience, they have been accommodated in camps in Cox's Bazar.
Their stay should have been short but there is no sign of their repatriation back home in Myanmar in sght. The Rohingya people have not only outnumbered the locals but also created pressure on the environment and the law and order regime. Already under pressure to support them, Bangladesh is facing possible risks in the future in view of the growing violence and tensions inside their camps.
The international community has appreciated Bangladesh for giving the Rohingya shelter and humanitarian support. However, the world did very little to pressure Myanmar to take them back with the guarantee of safety, security and dignity. Bangladesh, being a densely populated country, is facing multiple challenges due to the crisis created by Myanmar.
