Role of youth in promoting tourism

March 30, 2014 00:00:00

The term 'youth' indicates a state of being young, freshness, vigour, spirit, etc. The power and colour of the young generation can change anything they want. In case of tourism development, youth can play an important role. If we take a look at the 'youth tourism club' of Nigeria, we will see the unique contribution of young people in development of tourism.

A good news for Bangladesh is that 'Bangladesh Youth Tourism Club' (BYTC) has been established in order to promote tourism. As far as I know, the BYTC has been working for creating awareness among the local stakeholders, promoting tourism education and cultural exchange programmes, communicating all the tourism related information to promote tourism in Bangladesh.

Recently, the BYTC celebrated the first ever Valentine Tourism programme in Bangladesh and the slogan of the event was 'Let's Light the Candle of Love for Beautiful Bangladesh'. Now, it is trying to engage Shakib Al Hasan, statistically the most renowned cricketer in the nation's history, renowned golfer Siddikur Rahman and Musa Ibrahim, first Bangladeshi to climb the Mount Everest, in order to enrich the power of the young generation.

However, we know that 'older men declare war but it is youth who must fight and die.' The government should give a chance to the youth in order to transform our country into a new Bangladesh. They can do it in tourism too.
