Russia launches military satellite

MOSCOW, Dec 9 (AFP): Russia successfully launched a military satellite Sunday from the Baikonur cosmodrome in Kazakhstan's steppe, according to Russia's space forces.
A Proton-M rocket with the Kosmos satellite launched at 0016 GMT and was due to place the satellite in orbit at 0917 GMT, space force spokesman Alexei Zolotukhin said, cited by Interfax news agency.
The satellite will add to the Russian military satellite fleet orbiting around Earth.
